Seeing Elspeth inspired him to draw, he said, and so the three entered into an agreement.
Elspeth posed, the artist drew, his girlfriend wrote, and they insisted on maintaining the intellectual property rights to their own image, the drawings they made, and the stories they wrote, respectively.
It wasn't long before all three were very wealthy and on their way to fame.
Their friendship lasts to this day.
