A light in the forest

In the afternoon the rain cleared up and the sun came out again. Because they had lost so much time, Julia and Pipper decided to keep walking for another hour or so, by the light of the light of the almost full moon. They were looking for a suitable place to camp for the night when Julia spotted the light of a campfire between the trees in the distance. Pipper decided he had to go on alone to investigate. “Wait for me here”, Pipper said. “ I will try to be back within an hour, but don't worry if it takes a bit longer. I will have to move very slowly and carefully”. Julia tried to follow Pipper with her eyes but he sort of blended with the shadows and suddenly she was all alone. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't see or hear him move, although she thought she could faintly hear voices coming from the direction of the campfire.
