Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe was a brilliant, corpulent detective who rarely left his Manhattan brownstone, solving complex cases through razor-sharp deductive reasoning. Accompanied by his streetwise assistant Archie Goodwin, he combined intellectual prowess with an eccentric lifestyle centered around gourmet meals and his beloved orchid collection.
Stout, born in Noblesville, Indiana in 1886, was a prolific American writer who created the iconic Nero Wolfe series. A self-taught novelist, he wrote over 70 books and became one of the most popular mystery writers of the 20th century.
Among the most popular novels are: "Fer-de-Lance" (1934), "Too Many Cooks" (1938), and "Murder by the Book" (1951)
