This comes from a poem I wrote:

My heart hears the voice of the wild west wind, As it howls around the corner. And like the coyote’s mournful call, Imploring me to wander.

The sunset skies ablazing brightly Orange above the darkness Magnificent sentinels standing tall, The silhouettes of cactus.

I close my eyes, ah! The haunting memory, Of pavement lines rushing ‘neath me, Streaks of yellow and white in a halo of light, Vanishing just as quickly.

In the distance, far below, On highland pass descending, I see the starlights’ radiant glow In the valley where they’re resting.

The road leads on and in my dreams, Through desert wilderness I wander, With beauty only rarely seen, And very seldom treasured.
