You could buy giant canisters for sucking stuff. You could buy cattle, giant hats, bolo ties, insurance on whether your carriage could actually carry the stuff home...you could even buy a horrible, coal-lit, cast iron oven and stove that floated between 150 degrees and 750 degrees every half hour.
Anything that could be dreamt of could be had, for a competitive price and no chance of it actually working.
Montgomery Ward was Temu before Temu!
And today we pay for PRIME...

At least they all gussied up for the trip... Nowadays, its 'the people of walmart' everywhere.
My 6 shooter jammed. It caused quite an uproar among desperadoes. The other cowboys laughed for months.
Not kidding there’s an old Montgomery Ward building across the street from me. It’s gigantic and is now condos. Also, there was a flood here in 1949 which impacted the building. Very much part of Fort Worth history. It’s true about being able to buy anything there, back in the day. https://www.swf.usace.army.mil/Media/Images/igphoto/2002282608/ ↗️

Six weeks was awfully fast back then, especialy here in Norway. All that montains, forests, deep valleys with crappy roads. The only thing that was on time and worked like a clockwork back then was the railroads. Now a days, not so much…
