Originally, to introduce the new Bond, the old one, Sean Connery was offed in the first scene. Standing in front of a wind channel test turbine, he argued in his typical Bond way: "You wouldn't kill me before we go to bed." - "Well, most certainly I do to prevent me from ever having to," Atomic Blonde replied and pushed the on-button in her pocket. Thus reversing the first Bond's killing method, which had been cut seven years before.
In her debriefing, she later claimed, James Bond would have been a double agent. But she just didn't like chauvinists.
These two scenes were cut for legal reasons. Different producers were fighting over the film rights, and for complicated reasons it had to be the very same Bond, not another one, so they just didn't explain the change of actor.
