Beneath the towering monoliths of the high desert, where the cliffs echo the footsteps of the ancestors, three Southern Ute warriors ride the rim of the canyon. The year is 1872. The U.S. Indian Agency has pushed new terms into their lands, and rumors swirl of miners trespassing beyond the boundary line set by the Fort Bridger Treaty.
Leading the group is Tokwi, a respected war chief bearing his war lance, its feathers dancing in the canyon wind. At his flank rides Wupaki, a scout whose keen eyes once spotted cavalry from dust trails miles off. Behind them, young Nashu, silent and watchful, learns what it means to ride with purpose.
They aren’t seeking war—but nor will they surrender their land without resistance. Their journey is one of warning, diplomacy, and resolve. Every hoofbeat is a promise that the Northern Ute have not faded into legend. They are here, present as the wind, watching as the world tries to redraw the borders of the only home they've ever known.
