It was an *odd* act.  He spent ten minutes onstage smoking, with the *dummy* exhaling, coughing, and sometimes severely hacking, all while the the ventriloquist calmly inhaled from the cigarette and stared at nothing.

He never got *booed*, but he never got any applause either.
