A Sitrial - French Folklore Fey

The Sitrial is a little-known forest spirit whispered about in the dense Vosges woods of eastern France. It is said to dwell deep in mossy thickets and under tangled roots where the forest grows heavy with silence. Sitrial never shows its full form—only glimpses: a pale flicker through pine trunks, a hand-like shape brushing bark, a faint breath near your ear just before thunder rolls.

Unlike darker spirits, it does not seek harm. It warns. Travelers lost in the woods who stop and listen might hear its soft, rustling voice, like wind weaving through needles. If spoken to with respect, Sitrial may guide them out with subtle signs—bent twigs, shifting light, a sudden hush.

But it despises arrogance. Those who shout, curse, or break branches with no care may find themselves turned around endlessly, walking in circles until dusk falls and all paths vanish.
