Mina is a really amazing character.  Sure, Stoker used her as the "proper woman" foil to the more wanton and independent Lucy, but created a really solid female lead almost inspite of himself. Not only does she support those around her through their ordeals and struggles against the Count, but continues to do so even after she has been brutalized and sullied.  Indeed, without Mina, her wit and intelligence, and her ability to put up with a lot of nonsense and idiocy from the men around her.... Well, things might have ended better for Dracula but poorly for everyone else...
