Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass makes a statement to the press upon her return from Ghana:

"The Los Angeles Fire Department has everything under control. Normality is about to return to Los Angeles. The city is safe. There is nothing to worry about. Return to your homes."

When asked why she appeared so much heavier than when she left for Ghana, she replied, "Oh, this? I'm just wearing 10 layers of fire resistant clothing until I can evacuate."
