Dong-mae

Life gave him nothing but pain. Born into cruelty and abuse, he had no hope, no reason for living. He had never known love, until he met her. One act of kindness changed his world.

Life took him away from her, and for years he strived to be stronger. He did whatever it took, no matter the cost, in order to make himself more powerful. Powerful enough that no one could ever hurt him again. Powerful enough that he could be with her.

Finally, after many years, he returned to the one he loved, to his hope, his reason for living.

But she hated him. She despised who he had become. He never stopped loving her though, never stopped protecting her, never stopped being her bastion.

In the end, it was his love that sealed his fate He died fighting to protect her, even when she loathed him. When he lay dying in a pool of his own blood, he saw only her face. The face of the reason he had kept living. The face of the one he was dying for. And even then, he loved her until his last breath.
