This is based on a true story. I was helping out on a women's health stall at a music festival one summer. This young lady, came and spoke to me about her friend who needed support after having an abortion. Afterwards, I wondered if the friend she spoke of was actually her. She wanted to find out what support was available by asking indirectly 😞 It reminded me of the story in Matthew 9:20-22 where a lady, struggling with a private burden, reached out secretly for help from Jesus. He noticed her and showed kindness. It is believed that this lady's name was Veronica. Later, she stood on the Via Dolerosa as Jesus passed by carrying his cross. This time it was Veronica noticing Jesus carry his heavy load. He sank to the ground under the stress of it all. She came and stood by him just as he had done to her. She took a risk and kindly wiped the mud and blood from his face which left an impression of Jesus' face on the cloth - a true image. Hence "Veronica" which means, true image :
