Sisyphus, the king of Ephyra, continually violated the sacred concept of "xenia," or hospitality towards strangers, by killing visitors. He was the ultimate cunning villain, who was actually killed and sent to Hades, and managed to cheat Thanatos, Death himself twice. He finally wound up in Hades with an eternal punishment suited to him. He needs to push an immense boulder up a steep hill, all the way to the top, where a door awaits him, and if gone through, he will return to Earth and his life. The boulder cannot go all the way, but will inevitably roll back down the hill at some point. He could just leave it be and spend eternity in peace, but his limitless desire makes him continue, believing it is within his grasp.
This is part of a series dedicated to famous punishments in Greek myth, made on Bing using DALL-E 3, and it is dedicated in particular to two fans of such works: @Diomedes and @POP-WIZARD .

This is my favourite from your Sisyphus series Sarah. I prefer it over the others on several details: There are no others on the slope to the doorway; The boulder is not chained but obviously wouldnβt go through the door, allowing the illusion of progress and possibility with each attempt; His muscles are detailed enough to show both strength and strain; The doorway looks magically enticing; There is another option that looks peaceful if he chose to quell his determination; He has the look of a defeated king of old.
