Best Friends Forever... Part 2

It's Junior year of High School and I've gotten used to being invisible.

I mean, I have friends that I eat lunch with, but things haven't been the same since Parker graduated last year. Most of them were his friends first, so now I just quietly eat my lunch on the sidelines while they talk to each other.

Don't get me wrong, they're nice enough, but I never felt like I had anything to contribute to the conversation. I guess I'm just kinda boring. Going through life doing what's expected and trying to keep my head down...

...and then one day while walking to class, a new face appeared in my life and asked me where Mr. Robert's class was.

The first thing I noticed was the teal in her hair.

I just stood there for a long moment stammering awkwardly that it was where I was headed while trying not to stare. She just smiled back at me, took me by the arm and started walking and talking with me like we'd known each other forever.

I still don't understand what Nikki saw in me that day.
