Jackson Pollock

Jackson Pollock (1912 – 1956) was a painter from the USA and a leading figure in the Abstract Expressionist movement. His main art genre was Abstract Expressionism, and his innovative "drip painting" technique revolutionised the course of Modern Art. Pollock's dynamic and energetic paintings, characterised by drips, splatters, and gestural brushstrokes, captured the spontaneity and vitality of the creative process. He became known for his large-scale canvases, which he worked on the floor of his studio, allowing him to immerse himself fully in the act of painting. Pollock's iconic artworks, such as "Number 1A, 1948" and "Autumn Rhythm", remain emblematic of the Abstract Expressionist movement and continue to inspire artists and art enthusiasts worldwide. He was a leading member of a group of artists that came to be known as the New York School of abstract expressionism.
