Ascarn the Charred, Black Knight

I knew him, once, when we were young. A brash knight, always wanting to prove himself the strongest, fastest, best at sword and spear and lance, and often enough he was, but when he wasn't a black rage would come over him.

Shadows lay over him long before he gave himself over to darkness. The black dragon Charnathraxses had threatened the peoples of Palisade North and it's proximity to Obsidian Glass, the mountain standing like a jagged onxy dagger, north of Almecca, long had the black terror slept there and woken hungry. Ascarn thought to make his name legend and so sought out the old wyrm, sought and fought and triumphed, but came away burned and scarred beyond recognition. No glory could be his when he could not show his face. He stalked off into the Blightlands, seeking magics that might restore him.

His quest continues, I suppose. Rumors of pacts with dark beings have come back from sources I trust, though vague, it bears watching.
