🩷 Prehensile Tail — Explained (Ophelia’s Ability)

A prehensile tail is a tail specially adapted for grasping, holding, and supporting the animal’s body. It works almost like an extra hand or arm.

In the photo you shared, the opossum is: • Curling her tail tightly around the tree trunk • Using it for balance and stability • Supporting part of her body weight with it • Keeping herself anchored while climbing

This is exactly how Ophelia uses her prehensile tail.

🟣 What Ophelia Can Do with Her Prehensile Tail: • Grip branches, rafters, beams, and fence posts • Keep her balance while climbing or moving across narrow areas • Stabilize herself while reaching for food (like frogs!) • Hang briefly to reposition herself • Carry small items or stabilize nesting materials

🟡 What Ophelia CANNOT Do:

Just like real opossums, she does not sleep hanging by her tail. The tail is strong and flexible, but not designed to hold her full weight for long periods.

🕯️ Haunted House Encounter: Ophelia the Opossum

The old house creaked as moonlight filtered through shattered windows. Cobwebs swayed in the cold, still air. A single candle flickered on a dusty table, its flame bending to a whisper of movement in the shadows.

Then—a hiss.

From the darkness, two glowing green eyes appeared, piercing through the gloom. A low growl followed, echoing off the cracked walls. Out from behind a broken door crept Ophelia the Opossum, her silver fur shimmering faintly beneath the eerie light.

Her pink tail curled as she sniffed the air, teeth glinting like tiny daggers. Anyone brave enough to approach could hear her squeaks and hisses, warning all intruders that this haunted home belonged to her now.

The air filled with a strange stillness—until Ophelia vanished into the shadows once more, leaving only her glowing eyes behind, flickering like ghostly lanterns in the dark.

Opossums are omnivores and scavengers, so Ophelia would use her sharp teeth and strong jaws to eat frogs much like she would insects or small rodents. 1. She might sneak quietly through the haunted house’s swampy basement or garden, using her keen sense of smell to detect movement. 2. When she spots a frog, she’d pounce quickly, pinning it with her black claws. 3. Her sharp front teeth would pierce the frog’s soft body, allowing her to eat it in small bites. 4. She’d make snuffling and chewing sounds, perhaps followed by a small hiss of satisfaction.

Ophelia makes sounds like squeaks, hisses and growls.
