Superhuman symbiosis is a completely unoriginal idea. Totally. Not the oldest schtick in the superhero genre... But it's up there.

What is even more common is having tragedy, even a crime, as an integral part of a heroic origin story. Sometimes that involves supervillains or even villainous organizations.

While the Iron Marshmallows storyline centers around superhuman children, there are adults that they'd interact with at least occasionally. Tanagra would be one of them.
