Empires and Tribes.

Once, all humans on this planet lived in tribes.
There were small differences and big similarities between all the tribes.

And then one tribal chief wanted more, and went about conquering other tribes, and his heir believing his father to be correct, conquered more tribes, and the grandson continued the (by now) family tradition...

and soon it became a "necessity" that the now very large tribe become a larger tribe, until it became a kingdom, and then an empire.

All the while the tribes who were assimilated lost their culture more and more as they adapted to life in the empire.

And a religion grew within the empire, secretly and furtively at first, almost an act of rebellion against the empire...

but then as time passed; this secretive religion grew bolder, and then was adopted by the leader of this empire.

And so then this religion was the standard of the empire.

And then the empire fell, but the cultures of the tribes had faded away into history's slumber, and all the peoples knew was the culture of the empire, and its religion.
art deco
And so, the religion continued on as the empire had, conquering more and more tribes, as the empire had once done.

It travelled with the explorers, and set about its conquering ways all around the globe and used the old empires tactics all along the way.

Many's the tribe that fell, and many's the culture that has been lost.
art deco
So now, we stand today... lacking much of the culture that our tribes once upheld.
art deco
We were all in tribes once.
Some have lost their tribes much longer ago than others.
art deco
More's the pity.
Religion does have the potential to be guardian of culture.

And cultures are fading, we are becoming technological barbarians, uncivilized behind our computers...
