Challenging morning reflections

I'd lain awake all night, chewing over the prospect of this morning's appointment with Henry. The cherry on top was a scratchy contact lens. Rinsing it and trying to reinsert it hadn't helped, so I'd have to wear my backup glasses at work for the first time in years.
We'd all worn glasses as children. Mine were by far the strongest. He and Marco could go without theirs, but he'd always considered me. Marco would rush off to the deep end to dive in when we went swimming, but Henry would never leave my side. He'd even hold my hand as we slipped into the water together.
