Back Alley Exosuit

While the corporate powers conducted their business in the gleaming spires of the system's financial centers, those of lesser means conducted their own business. Using secondhand parts and cobbled-together software, people built robots and exosuits in home workshops. This exosuit was built by Finn MacDuff of New Chicago's Blacklight district, age 17. There are many like it, but this one is his.

It started as a high school science project to build a robotic arm, but then spiraled into much more. First Finn built another arm. Then he built a helmet with an AR display. Then he made a chest piece out of a car bumper. But he was only able to finish the suit after his father died, by using the robotic walker he had used to get around in his old age for the legs.

Finn has been offered acceptance to the University of New Chicago. Io Security and Pax Robotica want to recruit him too. None of them could see what was to come for him.
