βΉοΈ The Slime Bat (πππ’π΅πΆπ΄ ππ’π―π¨πͺπ§π¦π³π’ πͺπ―π₯πͺπ€π’) is a close relative of the common bat, sharing its diet of mosquitos, moths, and other insects. At night, instead of using echolocation to capture prey, they use special glands in their mouth to cover themselves in a sticky, poisonous mucus. The mucus is naturally fragrant, but they can better mimic the scent of the fruit by eating it (it will also gain the colors in the process not unlike a flamingo) where it will then hang from a fruit tree (in this photo, its of a mango variety), camouflaging itself from would be predators, and using the scent to capture and kill its own prey. When it wakes, it will pick the food from its body, and eat it. The wings seem to be purely for defense, as they aren't able to support flight, but can glide. The large ears are subtle enough to tell when a snake is creeping up on it. The poison is mild to humans, but delicous, making it a delicacy. It's endangered due to unchecked poaching.
