Lake Thurian (Tharpweft)

Generally known as the Lake Lurker, this massive, mostly sedentary creature works itself into the lakebed with thin tendrils that anchor it as well as extract nutrients. The thurian's thick, ridged skin functions as a sponge and filter for fresh water and respiration. Debris accumulates in the folds, causing the lurker to move once a week, shaking itself vigorously and relocating a few measures away. In its five to eight year lifespan a lurker may cover several land-measures of lake-bed territory before retracting its tendrils and floating out to sea to conclude its life cycle.

As a hunter, it grabs targets of opportunity with a mouth on the end of prehensile trunk, kept coiled in its body. A lurker is satisfied with a bite, but may also drag the entire body inside itself, fuel for a larger relocation later.
