Simon shook Columba. “Get ahold of yourself, man!”

Columba stood up. He began to become aggressive. “If you won’t join the Lady, then I must destroy you. *“Shel kek nem romnak, Tek’ma’ tek maet kree!”* He lunged at Simon.

Helena instinctively raised her Zat. The rest of SG-24 and the Seabees drew their weapons.

“Helena, now!” cried Larkin. 

Helena took aim as Simon moved out of the way. “May this free you,” she whispered as she fired. The Zat discharged sending a bolt of translucent blue energy to Columba, enveloping him. The man crumpled and fell to the jail cell floor unconscious. 

Fairbairn quickly moved in pulling a vial of smelling salts from her tactical vest pocket.

“Give him a moment,” Fairbairn murmured. She knelt and waved the vial beneath Columba’s nose. The man jerked, gasped, then blinked in confusion.

“Where... am... I?” he asked, his voice horse. “What happened?”

Helena holstered her Zat and knelt by his side opposite Fairbairn. “Easy now.”

Simon knelt next to Helena. “You picked fight, my friend, but you’re back with us now," he said.

“What do you remember?” Helena asked.


“I was coming in from the barn after feeding our animals and milking our cow when I saw my daughter Lucy standing in front of our house. She had a wild look in her eyes as if she had too much of Farmer Wilkin’s spirits. She had a strange flower in her hands. I hadn’t seen her in several months you know. She had been with the followers of the Lady in the camp, and I was worried sick about her. She extended her arms to give me a hug and I hugged her. That's when... I don't remember what happened... I guess I wound up here,” Columba replied.

Simon, Helena and Fairbairn approached Columba, while Larkin and Bjornson stood at the entrance of the cell, their hands on their P90s, relaxed but ready for any trouble. 

Simon approached Columba. “Columba, can you hear me? It's me, Simon.”

Columba rose. “He was still in a blissed-out state. “Simon, my friend,” he said. “Have you come to learn about The Light from me? The Lady wants you to know her.”

Simon was steadfast, “Columba, these people are going to help heal you,” he said. 

Columba began to sing.
