She looks at the clothes wondering just how they will feel against her skin. Will they be soft enough to being her comfort and safety?? Or will they just agitate her skin while a sharp itch arises that she feels compelled to harshly scratch??
Her headphones help with muting the strongest of sounds. But some still creep in and cause blackspots to appear and spilt-second blindness and vertigo.
The lights aren't that bright. But even they cause her eyes to burn, and the risk of a migraine increases when she lingers too long.
The air is really stale and heavy in the store. It always is. Not as refreshing and light as being around trees in the woods.
She takes a sip of water to somewhat help distract her from the sensory overload. She focuses on that as much as she can to filter out what she could. Even when that familiar feeling of anxiety and inadequacy arises.
This is what it means to be autistic.
