"Nice medallion he's got there. He gives that up, I think we're square."

"Oh, you're right! Well, you heard him good sir! One last little bit of jewelry and you can go!"

Milo clutched the medallion instinctively as he glared up at their faces. It was the one thing he could never part with.

"...no."

"No? ... ha, did he just tell us no? Ha ha ha, oh! The pretty elf boy might have some fight in him after all! You know, I wish I could say I didn't want to do this next bit, but that would be a lie... really, it's my favorite part of this whole thing."

He couldn't hope to fight them all off, but if he could just get the words out, he might still have a chance, no matter how small it was...
