Hofman’s Rubber Duck

The Rubber Duck is a series of giant, temporary floating sculptures of yellow rubber ducks created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman. Each duck is recreated locally and constructed from over 200 pieces of PVC, connected by hand with sewing machines, and kept inflated by an electric propeller fan. Since 2007, these ducks have been displayed in cities worldwide, including Amsterdam, Hong Kong, and Pittsburgh. The sculptures have faced challenges like vandalism, deflation, and weather damage. In 2013, China censored the term "Big Yellow Duck" online to prevent users from posting pictures of the sculpture altered in front of Tank Man.
