The Waiting Samoyed

Clara scrambled down the rocky embankment in panic. The river raged, threatening to swallow the tilted boat with each surge of current. There, within the vessel, lay Ashton, unconscious and pale.

She wrestled open the jammed hatch and pull with all her might. A surge of relief washing over her as she confirmed Ashton was still breathing.

The samoyed, Kuro, whined anxiously from a rustic hut on the riverbank, his white fur stark against the darkening sky.

Securing him with a hiking rope from her backpack, she began the arduous task of hauling him back to shore. Every pull against the current felt like an eternity, her muscles burning in protest. However, She couldn't give up. Not with Kuro's worried whimpers echoing in her ears.
