Emily Kame Kngwarreye (1910 – 1996) was an Aboriginal Folk artist from the Australian indigenous Utopia community in the Northern Territory. She gained international recognition for her vibrant and expressive Abstract paintings inspired by her ancestral dreaming stories and the Australian desert landscape. Kngwarreye began painting late in life, in her late 70s, but quickly rose to prominence for her bold use of colour and innovative artistic techniques.
