Picture the Marx Brothers as a vaudeville troupe performing on a stage that exists within a Klein bottle. Yeah, the premise sounds like a Dali collaboration/trainwreck. I didn't edit that one, but it's a good fit for a comic strip I keep procrastinatting over but never actually abandoned, because they were nearly the first proper comic strip I could take past the first awkward page. Æsop Fabal became my nearly-famous comics genius who basically failed to beat Winsor McCay or any of the other true sequential art cornerstones... but in a world where Æsop was the Mileus of early comics, with the flourish of McCay, the plotting of Caniff, the flair of Raymond, and the formal storytelling savvy of Eisner and of Kurtzman. And yet, also a total anarchy of Avery and Clampett and of Herriman and Segar, and Fleischer Studios. This was just head canon before I saw this dumb result again, tonight.
