Gerd Arntz (1900 – 1988) was a German-Dutch artist known for his significant contributions to the Constructivism and Figurative Constructivism Art movements. He was born in Germany and later moved to the Netherlands and acquired Dutch nationality. He was renowned for his black and white woodcuts, a technique that involved carving images into wood blocks. Arntz was a core member of the Cologne Progressives, a group that participated in revolutionary unions in the 1920s. His style was clear-cut and abstract, often depicting the life of workers and class struggle. Arntz is also known for his work with Otto Neurath on the development of Isotype (International System Of TYpographic Picture Education), for which he designed around 4000 pictograms.
