Aurelius, a chrysomancer, lived a solitary life in the mountains, disconnected from the empire. She avoided newspapers, earning her livelihood by crafting gold and selling it in villages. Despite her wealth, she shunned extravagance.
One evening, on her way back from the village, Aurelius saw an enigmatic cloaked woman with magical abilities, entertaining locals alongside a jester.
Captivated, Aurelius watched as the woman gave all her earnings to the jester.
That was when Aurelius decided to befriend her.
Her very first companion.
Approaching her, Aurelius offered a small gold brooch as a token of friendship. The lady gazed at her for a few moments before lowering her hood to reveal her face, but Aurelius showed no sign of recognition. Then she accepted the brooch, embracing a precious bond.
Little did Aurelius know that she had just befriended the ex-Queen Seraphina of the empire.

Wonderful story. I like the writing and the way the backstory pan into the event when she finally befriend the queen. Given how the cloaked person is unclear whether it's man or woman, I'm glad it's Queen Tia. I thought you are going to add her into Alec's harem :p (joking)
The image is wonderful. Rich and the gold tone really shines. She is gorgeous and I love her facial features including... golden eye (and not so thick eye shading). She seems to be partially asian as well 😄 ~ just curious if tran nguyen is the inspiration.
