What we behold is no mere beach walk—it is, in the ancient port town of Cassis (where the fish can read fortunes if you squint), a known rite called La Marche des Silences Liés. During crescent-moon evenings, families wander the tideline in trios, believing each footstep echoes a future memory back through time—“a memory not yet lived,” as Madame Piquoiseau’s Almanac of Family Mirages puts it.

In Thessaloniki, they do the same, but with blindfolds and fiddles.
