In the student lounge, she overheard a whisper—"Is that Lena? The artist?"

Someone else replied, "Yeah, I saw her Instagram. Maybe she’s doing some social experiment?"

She kept walking.

Her last class of the day was her favorite—studio time. The room smelled of oil paint and fresh canvas, filled with the quiet energy of students working on their projects.

... Anna was already there, setting up her easel. When she spotted Lena, she broke into a grin.

"Okay," she said, hands on her hips. "So, how does it feel being all mysterious and untouchable at uni?"

Lena exhaled, setting down her bag. "Strange. But… not bad."

Anna leaned closer, examining her mask. "Did anyone say anything stupid?"

"Not really. Some curiosity. Some whispers. Nothing too bad." ...

... Anna nodded approvingly. "Good. People will get used to it. Or they won’t. Either way, doesn’t change who you are."

Lena smiled under her mask.

She set up her canvas, selecting a charcoal pencil from her case. Today, she would draw. Not a self-portrait, not an image of herself for others to see—but something deeper. ...

... Lena chuckled. "I’ll take that as a compliment."

The professor entered, cutting their conversation short. As the lecture began, Lena found herself slipping back into routine. She took notes, listened, absorbed. The veil, the mask—it didn’t change her ability to learn. And yet, the awareness of being perceived lingered at the edges of her mind.

Between Classes

In the hallway, the reactions were more varied.

A few people stared. Some quickly looked away when she met their gaze. Others didn’t seem to care at all, too absorbed in their own schedules. ...

And here I was, thinking I knew all the cool stuff!   For the next Ink Drawing challenge, we’re going home again.  I hope you’ll stick around.
