On the eve of Nyepi, the night before the Day of Silence, villages come alive with the Ogoh-Ogoh parade. The effigies are carried through the streets accompanied by loud music, chanting, and the clanging of traditional instruments. This noisy, vibrant procession is meant to scare away Bhuta Kala and any lingering bad spirits, clearing the way for a peaceful and pure new year.

After the parade, the Ogoh-Ogohs are usually burned in a symbolic act of purification. This ritual signifies the release of negativity and the start of a fresh, harmonious year.
