The intensity of her gaze is a little unsettling, coupled with the knowing smile gives the impression of sinister intent. Although perhaps not sinister, but it seems, she was relentless.  Love the lesser know mythologies. So much to learn. 🦋☺️

That gaze can be *quite unsettling.* It's worth noting that about two/thirds of the Otherworld Portraits have never been posted in *this* venue for most would run from them. If they reject simple realism of their *Fantasy* depictions it's a given that they will turn and run from the one's which connect directly to the energies of the tradition which inspires their creation.

This nonposting equation goes back to the early days of the prompt and certainly continues with the SD3 branches of the collection.

What we may be seeing in this case is less *sinister* and more of a contempt rightly earned by the breed she gazes upon.  *Then again* we all tend to see what we expect. As all the Fae were at time labeled both *evil* and agents of the devil isn't it natural that such projections are reflected back at us?

All lore aside, she certainly is firmly set on her intentions.

*firmly set on her intentions* is a nice way to put it😂😂  She doesn’t seem to hold the breed in very high regard. I’ve been indulging in some darker challenges to release some of the more tormented creations I come up with. Perhaps your Otherworld creations might have an audience out there after all - because the dark and horror challenges are rather well supported. There’s a fresh challenge running back to back most weeks. Reina and I have taken to them surprisingly well considering how far away from our other work the dark themes lie. They tend more toward horror but Reina and I would both like to explore more subtle depictions that might include representations of sadness, or depression or grief. I figure there’s a lot of support at the moment for darker, less beautiful creations.

Not so very long ago, so other informants told me, a female spirit, commonly known as a *lanonshaa,* frequented the island of Manx. 

The lanonshaa seems to have been a kind of unbidden familiar spirit, for it permanently attached itself to its victim, and nothing could be done to get rid of the unwelcome companion.

In one case it attached itself to a big strong burly man, who was compelled to share his food with his lanonshaa. He was often seen when on horseback laughing immoderately, presumably with his ghostly companion, and throwing his hat into the air to catch it again.

One night after he had retired to rest a party of curious boys gathered round his bedroom to catch, if possible, some evidence of his companion. In this they were defeated, for the lanonshaa spied them and whispered, *‘They are listening now.’ ‘Listening, are they?’* The man lept up and chased the boys till they fled.
