Never thought of the Earth as being either Phaeton or Thaeton.. The belt suggested 1 or 2 missing planets because of the distance between Mars and Jupiter.

If the Moon wasn't already there. Then the collision could have created the Moon, and that doesn't explain its composition.

History is a nightmare. If we can't explain this, how could anyone explain big bang or big freeze accurately? We have again a best guess, nothing more.
