DALL-E 2
From a series of nine remarkable paintings found in the Attic of a building in Harlem as it was being demolished. Believed to be lost works by the great Russian painter Nicholas Roerich, intentionally varying in style: who is still represented by a tiny Museum in Manhattan which the writer HP Lovecraft visited, (TRUE!) and was inspired by enough to include references to the artwork in his novella The Mountains of Madness.
These images of the city overtaken by creatures and forces of an ancient or biblical nature seem to have truly inspired the controversial author who fled that town, finding solace in his ancestral home.
This image shows New York City consumed by flames, with unusual creatures inspired by Greco-Roman deities descending from a cosmic sky. Light and shadow play across a flooded cityscape in this photorealistic scene.
