Another personal one on how I experience it, may not suit for everyone. Let me just explain that my autism wants order and precise routine. ADHD makes me crave chaos sometimes. Autism makes me want order and routine and if it's not there, ADHD makes me need it RIGHT NOW. We MUST have that order RIGHT NOW otherwise autism is going to scream and get upset. WE NEED ORDER RIGHT NOW PLEASE, IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN NOW, I WANT IT NOW! Then anxiety kicks in with "What if we NEVER get our order and routine back? What if it's like this forever? No more routine." And then I panic some more. This is what goes on in my head. Easiest way to explain it is via AI.
This surreal image features a grey, fluffy clay monster with sharp teeth, appearing anxious in the dark. A speech bubble conveys the message 'Having AuDHD is a nightmare,' rendered in a style reminiscent of Troy Brooks and Shaun Tan.

Thank you so much for sharing! 🫶 🥺 and for letting inside your heart. I cannot pretend that I KNOW how it feels, but I can imagine it probably a little, as on some levels I think we all have the same anxieties now and then, just on a different amplification level, and of course we have different ways of experiencing them. I think it’s very important that you talk about it so that people around you who care know what you need and know how to best support you. If it counts, I’ll be here, as usual, and will as usual admire your art. 😊🫶 P.S. coincidentally I have just won a community challenge (I am still in shock and processing it!) with this image, that’s called “Struggle”. I dedicate it to you. 🫶
