It was the Greeks that first brought dogs inside as cherished family members and although dogs are often associated with scavenging in the Bible, they are never listed as an unclean animal. Even the story in Matthew 15:21-28 is easily misunderstood as Jesus being somewhat patronizing to an outcast woman. Turns out not to be the case.
