In the dim light of his private chambers, Archpriest Lucius sat silently, hands clasped in prayer. The lingering sorrow of the young acolyte’s funeral weighed heavily on him. As he closed his eyes, seeking solace, a soft, familiar voice called out.

"Lucius."

His eyes opened, and there she stood, Queen Seraphina.

He chuckled despite the somber mood. “Your habit of teleporting unannounced hasn’t changed, Your Majesty.”

She smiled faintly. “Old habits die hard. I’m sorry for intruding, but I need to know... has there been any news?”

His expression darkened. He recounted Alec’s visit to the temple, his cryptic words, and the tragedy of the acolyte.

She scoffed, “Alec’s theatrics never end. It’s all for show.” Yet, her tone wavered. “The red eyes… what could that mean?”
