Why the Red Feather

Among the álfar, red feathers are not born — they are earned. They bloom only from the heart-plume of the Valkren Iri-Stær, a mythic war-bird said to perch where battles are destined to begin. To pluck one is to claim fate itself.

The feather’s color is not blood. It is oath-ember — the hue of vows too fierce for peace.

Álfar lore states:

“Red plume rises — mercy falls.”

Where Vaelthira walks, treaties tremble. Where she plants that feather, war has already begun, though no blade yet screams.

Vaelthira was not forged by rage but by betrayed promise. Once a guardian of parley and shield-bearer of unity, she witnessed sanctuary violated — innocents slain under the flag of truce.

She swore then:

“If peace be shattered by liars, I shall become the knife truth hides behind.”
