The symbols of life and death Describing without words it's meaning in depth The skull, like death's hand is hard and cold The withered remains of flesh dead and old The rose, full of color and life, Representing all that is pure and right Whether it blooms or not nature decides But just as all life it withers and dies. Like fire and water they contrast But in the end the rose withers and the skull is all that lasts.
