It was an epic rain, to be told to sons and the sons of sons. It lasted for the entire day, falling from the leaden sky continuously.

The Villagers' joy was at its peak: they knew that, with that supply of drinkable, salt-free water, they would be able to get by for weeks -- maybe even months.

It was only a few minutes before dusk that the sky -- condensation clouds defeated by rain -- opened, revealing in the distance the misty pinnacles of the Old Metropolis they had abandoned so many years before.

They were so faded as to seem unreal, and to many of the little ones they were -- nothing more than a bedtime legend.
