The prompt was the title of a sword-and-sorcery novel supposedly written by "Richard Kirk." (Actually a pen name for Angus Wells and Robert Holdstock.) In the book, the title character was simply a woman named "Raven"; she didn't have black feathers and a beak and so forth. But I liked this look enough that I chose to publish this version.
