This is quite lovely and gentle. 🥰 This must be the mother and what she looked like on prom night as her hairstyle and dress look mid '60s. I graduated in '67 and made my own dress. Back then, all the girls had floor length prom dresses as it was a big thrill to dress up elegant and formal. I even borrowed elbow length white gloves but after the ceremony and for the catered supper and dance, I took them off. They felt strange to wear.
The dress I made was an orange and deep gold-yellow brocade. Orange is NOT my colour but I fell in love with the fabric when I saw it. (Fabric shops were fairly common and not that expensive as most women sewed back then.) I lined it with taffeta as I wanted to have that signature "taffeta rustle" when I moved. I wore an elegant white gardenia corsage with it - what a fragrance!! I lost the dress just over a year later in our house fire. I wasn't living at home then but a lot of my clothes were still in my old bedroom closet. Anyways, I digress...
