Taterkin

The Taterkin (Solanomorphus laborus) emerges when a Sprudlet matures in nutrient-rich soil and is exposed to consistent moonlight. Solitary and slow-moving, it roams farmlands and abandoned fields at dusk, tilling soil with its clawed fingers to replant fallen seeds or bury the remains of small creatures. Its diet expands to include rodents, carrion, and fungal growths. The Taterkin is territorial, protecting its land from scavengers and poachers with low, resonant growls that carry through the dirt. Farmers tell tales of "The Brown Shepherd"—a tired figure that tends to fields long after their owners are gone.
