Aeëtes or Eetes, in greek mythology, was the ruler of the kingdom of Colchis in the Black Sea. He was son of the Sun God Helios and the Oceanid Perseis, brother to Circe, Perses (not the titan of the same name) and Pasiphaë, and father of Medea and Absyrtus. Aeetes founded Colchis, he received Phrixus in his kingdom, who was escaping and saved by a golden ram sent by Helios, Phrixus gave the golden fleece of the ram to Aeetes, that gave prosperity to the kingdom.
