The game World of Warcraft had a controversial moment in which they burned down the capital city of the Night Elves. I used that as the inspiration for this piece, but depict their goddess Elune's avatar on a cliff near Duskwood with no hope to save her people so all she can do is mourn the lost ones...
In the heart of night, where stars do gleam,
Teldrassil's fire, a nightmare's dream.
Elune's tears, like silver streams,
Flow for her children, lost in screams.
The world tree's might, now laid to waste,
Its verdant grace, gone with haste.
A goddess watches, her vigil keeps,
Over the land where her kinfolk sleeps.
Elune, she cares for her night elves fair
Loving them all each passing more despair
Her tears a gift to those who remain
Creating a new home to ease the pain
